Job Overview

Wolverine is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) for the options market making engineering team who is driven to improve the reliability of large scale systems. Our ideal candidate excels at both collaborating with technical and business subject matter experts to operate and monitor our production systems, while also facilitating debugging and fixing mission critical problems. Additionally, the candidate will be able to identify and improve manual, repetitive, automatable and non-tactical work that can slow down development time to market. This is a hands-on position spanning the entire development stack of our bleeding edge ultra-low latency trading systems from idea generation all the way to support. Responsibilities for Site Reliability Engineer

  • Ownership of service management - from planning/design, deployment, operation and optimization
  • Monitor and maintain service metrics, using monitoring tools (such as Grafana) to measure and define alarms/alerts in collaboration with engineering/trading staff
  • Scale systems through automation and improving reliability
  • Facilitate/assist in debugging production issues by collaborating with developers and trading staff while practicing blameless postmortems
  • Analyze current technologies/techniques utilized for operations and automation within the company and develop steps and processes to improve and expand upon them

Qualifications for Site Reliability Engineer

  • Driven individual with systematic problem solving and effective communication skills
  • 2+ years large scale distributed system experience developing, deploying and maintaining applications in one or more of C, C++, C#, Java, Python
  • Experienced in some or all aspects of analyzing, optimizing and troubleshooting large scale distributed systems
  • Experienced in provisioning, operating and deploying applications on Linux
  • Professional experience with CI/CD tools
  • An understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols
  • Enjoys working with others to constantly learn, experiment and iterate quickly
