Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineer to join our Trading Systems team within the Front Office Systems group. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who can design, build, and support critical applications used by traders, portfolio managers, and investment teams.
The role builds on the core Trading Systems responsibilities of developing applications, backend services, APIs, cloud-based solutions, and integrations that support front-office trading and investment workflows. The successful candidate will be expected to operate with limited day-to-day supervision, apply sound technical judgment, influence technology decisions, mentor junior colleagues, and independently drive projects to completion.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, deploy, and support Trading Systems services, APIs, and workflow applications.
Build and maintain backend services using Python and C#.
Contribute to modern web applications using React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
Develop and support cloud-based solutions using AWS services such as EKS, Lambda, EC2, S3, and RDS.
Partner with traders, portfolio managers, operations teams, and business stakeholders to translate workflow needs into technical solutions.
Support integrations with internal systems, OMS/EMS platforms, market data providers, trading platforms, and operational tools.
Improve workflows related to order lifecycle management, trading, execution, allocations, and post-trade processes.
Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement durable fixes.
Contribute to technical design decisions, architecture discussions, code reviews, testing, release processes, and engineering best practices.
Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, performance, scalability, automation, and developer productivity.
Explore and apply Generative AI / LLM-based capabilities where they can improve workflows, automation, or user experience.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the team.
Requirements
Strong professional software engineering experience, preferably in financial services, fintech, asset management, or another business-critical technology environment.
Experience with object-oriented programming, preferably in Python or .NET.
Experience building backend services, APIs, application integrations, or data-driven systems.
Familiarity with AWS cloud services, including EKS, Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, or similar services.
Experience with modern web development, preferably React and JavaScript/TypeScript.
Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including APIs, data structures, version control, automated testing, debugging, and secure development practices.
Experience with relational databases and SQL.
Ability to independently deliver high-quality technical work with limited day-to-day supervision.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
Prior experience supporting front-office, trading, market data, or investment operations systems.
Experience with OMS and/or EMS platforms as well as understanding of trading workflows, order routing, execution, allocations, and post-trade processes. are preferred
Familiarity with REST APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, messaging systems, or system integrations as well as CI/CD, containerization, Kubernetes, DevOps practices, and production observability tools is preferred.
Knowledge of financial instruments such as equities, ETFs, derivatives, FX, or fixed income is an asset.
Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, AI-assisted application features, prompt-driven workflows, or agentic AI frameworks is welcome.
The base salary range for this position is $135,000 - $325,000 per year.
